1. Introduction

Welcome to RentBuzz, a peer-to-peer rental platform where users can rent and lend a variety of items. By accessing or using our website and services, you agree to comply with and be bound by these Terms and Conditions. These terms are designed to protect all parties involved, with special considerations for our partnered insurance company, Protect Cover.

  • 1.1 RentBuzz Limited is a company registered in England, Company number 15854085 with its registered address at 85 Great Portland Street, First Floor, London, W1W 7LT.

2. Definitions

  • “Platform” refers to the RentBuzz website and any related services.
  • “User” or “You” means any individual who uses the Platform, whether as a lender or a borrower.
  • “Item” refers to any product listed for rental on the Platform.

3. Eligibility

To use platform, you must be at least 18 years old and capable of entering into legally binding agreements. By using our services, you confirm that you meet these requirements.

  • 3.1 Your privacy is important to us. You should read our Privacy Policy (https://rentbuzz.co.uk/privacy-policy) to understand how we collect, use and share information about you.

4. Account Registration

To access certain features of platform, you must register for an account. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during the registration process and to update such information as needed.

5. Verification and Security

  • 5.1 Identity Verification: All users are required to verify their identity through platforms registration process by providing a valid government-issued ID to confirm their personal details and address.
  • 5.2 Credit and Background Checks: platform reserves the right to conduct credit and background checks on all renters for high value rentals to ensure their ability to cover potential damages or losses.

6. Listings

Lenders can list items for rent by providing detailed descriptions, availability dates, and rental prices. RentBuzz reserves the right to remove any listings that violate our policies.

7. Renting Process

  • Booking: Borrowers can request to rent items by submitting a booking request through the Platform.
  • Approval: The lender must approve the booking request before the rental period begins.
  • Payments: Platform facilitates payment transactions between borrowers and lenders. Platform collects a service fee on each transaction.

8. User Responsibilities

  • 8.1 Item Owners: Owners are responsible for accurately listing and maintaining their items in good condition. They must provide detailed and truthful descriptions and photographs of the items.
  • 8.2 Renters: Renters are responsible for using the items in accordance with the owner’s instructions and returning them in the same condition as when they were rented. Renters must report any damages or loss of items immediately.
  • 8.3 Transactions: During a rental transaction, the renters are required to make sure the working conditions and general wear and tear of the rental items and are required to provide any issues before renting the item. On return the Item Owners are required to verify the condition of the returned rented item and if any issue, report it to the platform using a contact us section on our website or writing to us using the email id provided in section 20 of this document.

9. Rental Agreement

  • 9.1 Contract: A rental agreement is formed between the item owner and the renter once a booking is confirmed. platform acts as an intermediary platform facilitating this agreement.
  • 9.2 Duration and Fees: The rental duration and fees are agreed upon at the time of booking. Platform will collect payments and disburse funds to the item owner, minus any applicable service fees.

10. Payments and Disbursements

  • 10.1 Payment Processing: Platform handles all payment processing between renters and item owners. Rental fees are collected at the time of booking, and owners are paid after the rental period, minus any service fees.
  • 10.2 Security Deposits: Platform may require security deposits for certain high-value items, which will be held until the item is returned and inspected for any damages or loss.

11. Damage, Loss, and Insurance

  • 11.1 Insurance Coverage: Protect Cover provides insurance to cover rental income loss for item owners until any disputes regarding damage or loss are resolved. This coverage does extend to the current market value of the item.
  • 11.2 Damage and Loss Resolution: In the event of damage or loss:
    • Renters must pay back the market value of the item.
    • Platform will assist in recovering the costs by verifying the renter’s ability to pay through credit checks and bank statements during registration.
  • 11.3 Insurance Claims: Item owners can claim rental income loss through Protect Cover. While the insurance company is not responsible for covering physical damage or loss of the item, it will compensate for the rental income until the issue is resolved. Platform will assist in recovering the cost of the item from the renter and reimbursing the insurance company.

12. Fees and Payments

Platform charges a service fee to both borrowers and lenders for using the Platform. These fees are detailed on our website and may be updated periodically. All payments are processed through secure third-party payment gateway providers.

13. Cancellations and Refunds

  • Borrower Cancellations: Borrowers may cancel a booking under certain conditions, subject to the cancellation policy specified in the listing.
  • Lender Cancellations: Lenders may cancel a booking but may incur a penalty unless the cancellation is due to an unforeseeable event.
  • Refunds: Refunds are processed according to the specific circumstances of each cancellation.

14. Disputes and Resolutions

  • 14.1 Dispute Process: Platform provides a platform for resolving disputes between renters and item owners. All disputes must be reported to platform within 24 hours of the rental period ending.
  • 14.2 Arbitration: Any unresolved disputes will be subject to binding arbitration, in accordance with platforms arbitration policies.

15. Prohibited Activities

Users are prohibited from engaging in activities that are illegal, harmful, or in violation of these Terms. Such activities include but are not limited to:

  • Listing prohibited items.
  • Providing false or misleading information.
  • Harassment or abuse of other users.

16. Limitation of Liability

Platform is not responsible for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the use of the Platform. Our liability is limited to the amount of fees collected for the specific transaction in question.

17. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless platform and its affiliates from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the Platform or violation of these Terms.

18. Modifications

Platform reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be posted on our website, and your continued use of the Platform constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

19. Governing Law

These Terms and any disputes arising from them are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which platform operates.
